Merseyrail Sound Station finalists

Two LIPA Sixth Form College students have been named as finalists in the fifth annual Merseyrail Sound Station Festival, which takes place on Saturday 11 November 2017.

Tabitha Jade Hayles is a first year Music student, while Molly Hughes is in her second year of the same course.

Tabitha Jade said: “I was so surprised to be named as a finalist – I’m delighted to have got through with my own song, ‘Sunday’. If I won the competition, I’d love the opportunity to record an acoustic EP and get more exposure for my music.”

Molly commented: “I was ecstatic to hear I’d got through to the final. I’m happy just to sing and put a smile on people’s faces, but if I won the competition, I’d focus on developing myself and my profile as a professional musician.”

Altogether ten finalists have been picked from a raft of entries to perform in front of a panel of expert judges who represent a wide range of organisations from the Merseyside music industry. The band or solo artist who impresses the panel the most will receive a year of music industry mentoring, studio time with a producer and free train travel courtesy of Merseyrail. They will also receive airplay on Dave Monks’ Introducing show on BBC Radio Merseyside and will be featured in Bido Lito! Magazine.

Last year, Astles went away with the coveted prize – he has since gone on to play at some of Liverpool’s top venues and released an EP, ‘Live at the Nordic’

The final will be hosted at Liverpool’s Central Station, with the winner being announced at Leaf in Bold Street later the same evening.
