Autumn Term Newsletter

Autumn Term Newsletter

Welcome to our autumn term newsletter. In addition to welcoming our new and returning students, we have been celebrating the excellent results of our first batch of leavers - 99.4% passed their BTEC Extended Diploma, with 74% going onto conservatoire or university study, and with 96% going into further or higher education or employment.

As always, this term is a particularly busy one, as you'll see from the news items below. There are lots of opportunities for you to be involved in college life, and we look forward to working with you for the benefit of our students. Thank you in advance for your support - I hope you enjoy reading about some of the things happening this term.

Best wishes,

Year 1 parents welcome evening

We'll be holding a welcome evening for the parents/carers of Year 1 students on Tuesday 16 October from 6pm, at which you'll get to meet key staff, get an overview of the year ahead in college, and have a chance to experience sessions run by each of the different disciplines in college.

Year 2 progression guidance

We'll be running a progression evening for the parents/carers of Year 2 students on Thursday 18 October from 6pm. This event is just for parents, and will focus on opportunities for progression onto Higher Education, apprenticeships and employment. The session will also look at the UCAS university application process and selecting prospective Higher Education destinations.

Parent Governor elections

We're looking for a parent governor from among our first year parents to join our board and help shape the direction of the college. All parents/carers of current students are welcome to stand for election - see the expression of interest form at The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday 19 October.

External review

We will have an OFSTED review at some point this year, and to prepare for it, we will be having an external review Monday 8 - Wednesday 10 October. Four experienced inspectors will be visiting us, and may seek to gather feedback from students and parents, so please don't be afraid to give your opinion if asked.

Two parents' forum events

We will be running a series of parents/carers' forum meetings across the year. The first is on Wednesday 7 November at 5.30pm. This forum is open to all parents/carers and will be an opportunity for parents to give feedback on communication, the college's plan for the year and on the application and interview/audition process. A second meeting will be held on Tuesday 22 January, at which the UCAS application process will be discussed.
