Consultation on the proposed expansion of LIPA Sixth Form College
Consultation on increasing the number of students from the current 374 to 484. We plan to implement this increase during the period up to the academic year 2027/28.
The Current Position
Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) Sixth Form College is just one of a handful of further education providers in England to focus on the creative and performing arts. Rated as Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in 2019, we are also among the country’s highest rated sixth form colleges. Since opening in 2016 we have always been oversubscribed.
Inspired by the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), our professional focus and project-based learning prepare students for a future in the performing and creative arts. We help them develop their own independent way of learning, so they become more resilient and at the same time are learning how to work as an industry professional. Students learn in a positive, supportive and inclusive environment alongside like-minded students and guided by industry-experienced teachers.
We are part of LIPA Multi Academy Trust which consists of LIPA Primary and High School, and LIPA Sixth Form College.
It is proposed that we increase the numbers of students in Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) Sixth Form College from the current 374 to 484. We plan to implement this increase during the period up to the academic year 2027/28. The need for extra places for students is aligned with the projected increased demand for such places as confirmed by the DfE and the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
This will provide the benefits of our high quality provision to a much larger group of young people.
