Learning lessons from legends

Ten lucky LIPA Sixth Form College students were chosen by ballot to attend Sir Paul’s masterclass, while another 30 were fortunate enough to see a screening of Woody’s new film, Lost in London and a Q&A with the actor and director himself.

Paul - who is LIPA’s Lead Patron and a regular visitor – has recently returned from a series of concerts in Japan and is heading out on a tour of the US in July. Students from both the Sixth Form College and LIPA were able to ask him questions about the music industry and his career.

Paul’s masterclass was then followed by the Lost in London screening, Woody’s first film as a director. Shot in one continuous take in January, the film was originally broadcast live – as it was filmed - to 500 cinemas in the US. After the screening, Woody took part in a Q&A with students where he discussed both the film’s content and production method.

Charles Bartholomew, Director of Sixth Form, said: “Our students were thrilled to have the opportunity to attend masterclasses with Paul McCartney and Woody Harrelson. It was a truly memorable day and contributed to their ongoing development with us at LIPA Sixth Form College.”
