Louise Liptrot

Teacher of Acting & Musical Theatre

Louise was delighted to be part of the inaugural cohort at LIPA when it opened in 1996. During her time there, she was selected to perform Big Book for Girls at the Pleasance Theatre in London. Following showcase performances in both London and Liverpool, she secured representation with Northern Lights and immediately began working with Crag Rats Theatre Company. It was through touring schools with TIE (Theatre in Education) and engaging with young people that she discovered a passion for teaching. Louise went on to become the first student to train for a PGCE in English with Drama at Liverpool Hope University. She began her career as a teacher of English, Drama, and Performing Arts, and in her first year, was appointed Lead Teacher for Gifted and Talented pupils. In this role, she developed a successful programme of enrichment activities and skills development, a position she held until 2008. In 2009, Louise became the first LIPA graduate to return and graduate a second time—this time with a Master’s degree in Performing Arts. This achievement led to her appointment as Curriculum Lead for Drama, and in 2024, she became Curriculum Lead for Performing Arts and Music. Since 2021, she has also been involved with the local SCITT, training the next generation of secondary Drama teachers. Her passion for educating young people and helping them experience the creativity and freedom of the Performing Arts has never waned. Whether nurturing future performers and creatives or mentoring the next wave of educators, Louise remains deeply committed to the transformative power of the arts—and has maintained strong ties with LIPA to this day.
