Staff

Our teaching staff are all industry experienced. They understand, and have links to, the sector you aspire to work in. They can help you reach the standards expected and introduce you to the behaviour and discipline required. 

Among our tutors

Our Acting department consists of performers, writers, theatre makers and directors who have worked in theatre, television, community drama and audio, in Liverpool and across the country. 

Our Dance team are all specialised teachers in the styles and all have professional experience ranging from performing in contemporary dance companies, to cabaret, cruise ships and the West End. Our staff are still active teaching, choreographing and performing in the dance industry. 

Our Design for Performance team consists of LIPA (HE) alumni who are experienced industry professionals. They have worked in a variety of professional settings, including theatre, live events, arts festivals in education, exhibitions and galleries such as Tate Liverpool. The team are all experienced teachers and continue to work freelance in the North West. 

Our Music team consists of performers, writers and sound technicians who work regularly across a wide range of musical genres, and includes a GRAMMY-nominated musician.

Our Musical Theatre team are all specialist teachers who have a wealth of professional experience in their taught discipline, with most staff having worked in the West End. The team all actively still work in industry roles such as director, choreographer and vocal coaches. 

Our Technical Theatre team consists of LIPA (HE) alumni who are experienced industry professionals. They have worked in a variety of professional settings, including, theatre, live events and cruise ships. The team are all experienced teachers and continue to work Freelance in the North West. 

Maria Bridges

Teacher of English

With over 15 years of teaching experience, Maria teaches English at LIPA Sixth Form College with a commitment to helping every student discover what they are capable of. Maria has a degree in English Language and Literature and gained a Distinction in her PGCE from Edge Hill University. Creating and adapting high-quality resources, Maria works to make learning accessible, fun and inspiring, while encouraging pupils to believe in themselves and aim high. Maria loves to create relevant resources for our pupils, bringing her love for the arts into English teaching! She knows that for a pupil to achieve they have to believe in their abilities - this is a core part of her teaching style. A lifelong lover of theatre and the arts, Maria knows just how powerful and transformative creativity can be. Music, arts and culture have shaped her life in countless ways, and she is excited to see those same opportunities spark ambition, imagination and self-belief in the students of LIPA Sixth Form College.
